Public Works Engineering has prepared a "Developer's Guide to Public Works Land Development Issues." The guide is
available online at www.ci.eugene.or.us/PW/Engineering/devguide. Compact disks of the document also are available
for a minimal fee at Public Works Engineering, 858 Pearl Street.
An information session will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25, in the Les Lyle Conference Room at 858 Pearl,
Street to give interested parties an opportunity to learn about the 255-page guide in detail. The purpose of this guide is
to assist property owners and developers in understanding the most common Public Works issues that must be
addressed in the process of dividing or developing land and to provide a general explanation of how to deal with those
issues.
For more information about the guide, please call Development Review Manager Peggy Keppler at 682-5291, or contact
her by e-mail at peggy.a.keppler@ci.eugene.or.us.
Eugene Delta Rotary and Emerald Valley BMX Jump Obstacles to Improve Track
Thanks to the recent efforts of volunteers from Eugene
Downtown Rotary and Emerald Valley BMX, bikers will catch a ; .``
few more thrills and enjoy more attractive scenery at the BMX
track, just south of Autzen Stadium in Alton Baker Park off -
Leo Harris Parkway.
..n.• I
According to Volunteers in Parks Coordinator Chris Girard, _=—
who helped organize the work party a few weeks ago, the ' ' •
volunteers literally transformed the site. Using rakes and ,
shovels and heavy equipment, such as a backhoe, caterpillar
and tractor, which were donated and operated by Wildish,
Willamette Pass, Mike Jerot of Woodruff Nursery, Carl
Oslund, Rotarians and Emerald Valley BMX volunteers rebuilt .
and beautified the track by moving and raking dirt, grading,
mowing, weeding, and cleaning up debris and invasive
vegetation. Over 10 yards of blackberries and 10 yards of
abandoned concrete were hauled from the site.
Volunteers and heavy equipment create new tracks at
Bill Cole, Rotarian coordinator of the project and owner of the BMX track in Alton Baker Park.
Wheel Works, says the Eugene Downtown Rotary saw this as a great opportunity to serve the community. "It was
relatively easy to mobilize our members and step up the appearance of this popular facility,"says Cole.
While the Rotarians were cleaning up the grounds, volunteers from Emerald Valley BMX, including many young people,
were creating a new track design—one that they hope will make the track more competitive and appealing to bikers.
When Girard asked one young volunteer about what he thought about the improvements, he said, "Yea, it's like a real
race track now." For more information about the project, contact Chris Girard in Parks and Open Space at 682-4845.
THIS WEEK
06/12 Th 5:30pm BB, JS Police Commission McNutt Room
NEXT WEEK
06/17 T 12:15pm BT,JS Human Services Comm.
