Efficiency, Service, Value." A wide variety of
demonstration, activities and equipment displays will feature the services provided by the
department's administration, airport, engineering, maintenance, parks and open spaces, and
wastewater divisions.
The event will also highlight careers in public works. Public Works employees will be
available to answer questions about the necessary education, what Public Works employees do
and what services the department provides for the citizens of Eugene.
Public Works Day isn't just for adults. More than 1,800 schoolchildren have signed up to
attend the open house. They will see Public Works equipment in action, take a tour of the yard
in a dump truck-pulled trailer, and even go inside a gigantic salmon. Community members are
encouraged to visit during the afternoon to avoid the crowds.
