NEWS RELEASE—OWEN ROSE GARDEN GAZEBO DEDICATION
Page 2
May 20, 2003
"We are hoping that the gazebo will encourage visitors to linger in the shade of the garden and
gather for family events in this beautiful rose garden by the river."
Since the group adopted Owen Rose Garden as a community service project in 1999,
members have donated more than 2,500 hours of planning, coordination and physical labor to
the beautification of the public garden next to the Willamette River. In addition to constructing
the new gazebo, they, in conjunction with City Parks and Open Space staff, have decorated the
garden with trellises and constructed rose bed borders, a paver pathway and a large pergola to
adorn the walkway with climbing roses.
To purchase a personalized brick, slate tiles or planter in the garden or for more
information about the dedication or project, call 682-4907.
# ##
