Eugene Hosts OFCA Awards Banquet <br /> On May 16, Eugene served as host of the 2nd Annual Oregon Fire Chiefs Association Awards Banquet. The gathering at <br /> the Valley River Inn brought together more than 200 fire service professionals representing departments throughout the <br /> state. At the banquet, former Eugene Fire Chief Bill Bass -- now a Battalion Chief with Lane Rural Fire/Rescue-- received <br /> a Life Service Award for his accomplishments in the profession, and several Springfield firefighters were commended for <br /> their heroism in a rescue incident last year. A number of Eugene firefighters were nominated for awards but did not prevail <br /> in this year's statewide competition. We hope to be on the podium next year, when Eugene will again be the venue for this <br /> prestigious statewide event.
