Taxpayers can <br /> get forms to file their returns and ask questions about state <br /> income taxes. <br /> For more information, call (503) 378-4988 or (800) 356-4222. <br /> Tree planting event set for Arbor Day celebration <br /> East 26th Avenue between Willamette and Oak streets will be <br /> closed from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. today while Eugene Mayor Jim <br /> Torrey plants trees with several local groups to celebrate Arbor <br /> Day. <br /> Members of the Girl Scouts of Western Rivers Council, Friendly <br /> Area Neighbors, Eugene Tree Foundation, the Lane County <br /> Chapter of Oregon Landscape Contractors Association and City <br /> NeighborWoods will plant 40 trees during the "Trees for <br /> Concrete" project. <br /> The Trees for Concrete program creates green downtown <br /> environments by excavating and planting spaces in portions of <br /> sidewalks in the urban core. <br /> The project was made possible through collaboration between <br /> NeighborWoods, Eugene Tree Foundation and area businesses, <br /> property owners and residents. <br /> Mayor Torrey also will accept a Tree City U.S.A. Award, <br /> Eugene's 24th, in recognition of programs that plant and care <br /> for trees. <br /> Fruit tree sale will benefit FOOD for Lane County <br /> A bare root fruit tree sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. <br /> today at the Grass Roots Garden, located behind St. Thomas <br /> Episcopal Church, 1465 Coburg Road. More than 500 fruit trees <br /> of various types will be available.
