Picado, Parks and Open Space Public Information Specialist, 682-4814 or <br /> 682-4800, therese.m.picado@ci.eugene.or.us <br /> FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE <br /> HELP PLANT NATIVE PLANTS AT THE NEW NATIVE PLANT GARDEN IN <br /> HENDRICKS PARK THIS SATURDAY <br /> Hendricks Park staff and the Friends of Hendricks Park will lead a work party to plant <br /> native plants in the new Native Plant Garden at Hendricks Park this Saturday, January 4, from <br /> 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Interested volunteers should meet at the F.M. Wilkins Shelter in Hendricks <br /> Park at 2200 Summit Avenue. Native irises and other perennials and bulbs will be planted in the <br /> garden which was dedicated last May. <br /> Planting began last winter. The Native Plant Garden will be constructed over several <br /> years and will include accessible trials and a variety of the area's local native plants arranged in <br /> garden beds and natural areas for educational purposes as well as a garden attraction. <br /> Volunteers are instructed to wear warm clothes and sturdy shoes or boots. Some tools <br /> and raingear will be available for use. For more information, call Sandra Austin of the Friends of <br /> Hendricks Park at 343-3452 or park staff at 682-5324. <br /> ### <br />
