diverse needs, the City wants to hear from Eugene residents of all ages, abilities, and interests. "We want residents to
play an active role in how parks and recreation services are provided in the future," says Parks and Open Space Planning
Manager Andrea Riner. "We need to listen to residents to really know what the community wants and needs."
:he current plan, created in 1989, is outdated. The new plan will build upon current planning efforts, providing a vision for
facilities and services, as well as practical steps for achieving that vision. The open house is one of several opportunities
residents will have to provide input. A community survey will be conducted this fall to get residents' ideas about park and
recreation needs. Mayor Torrey has appointed an advisory committee to help guide the 18-month comprehensive
planning process with an interdisciplinary committee of City staff serving as the project management team. For more
information, contact project manager and Parks and Open Space Planning Manager Andrea Riner at 682-4909.
THIS WEEK
11/14 Th 5:30pm BB,BT Police Commission McNutt Room
11/15 F 10:00am SM OR Passenger Rail Advisory Council ODOT Human Resources Ctr., Salem
I NEXT WEEK
11/18 M 1-5pm DK Housing Policy Board Atrium/Saul Room *"
11/18 M 5:30pm Council Budget Committee Council Chamber
11/19 T 5:30pm NN,SM,BB Planning Commission + 3 Atrium/Sloat Room
11/19 T 6:00pm GP Human Rights Commission McNutt Room
11/20 W Noon All Council Lunch Work Session McNutt Room
ABSENT: Torrey, Farr
11/21 CANCELLED Citizen Involvement Committee
UPCOMING
11/25 M 5:30pm All Council Dinner Work Session McNutt Room
11/25 M 7:30pm All Council Meeting Council Chamber
11/25 W Noon All Council Lunch Work Session McNutt Room
11/26 T Noon NN,BB, Human Services Commission
JS,BT
11/26 T 4:00pm JT Mayor's One-on-One McNutt Room
11/27 CANCELLED Council Lunch Work Session
11/28 -29 Thanksgiving Holidays - City Offices Closed
December
12/03 -12/07 BT,NN National League of Cities Conference Salt Lake City
12/09 M 5:30pm Council Budget Committee Council Chamber
12/09 M 7:30pm All Council Meeting Council Chamber
12/11 W Noon All Council Lunch Work Session McNutt Room
12/12 Th 3:00pm NN,JT Public Safety Coordinating Council Juvenile Justice Center
12/12 Th Noon PF CVALCO Board Meeting Doubletree Hotel, Gateway
12/12 Th 5:30pm BB,BT Police Commission McNutt Room
Council Winter Break: December 12 -January 7, 2003
12/17 T 6:00pm GP Human Rights Commission McNutt Room
,2/19 Th Noon BB Citizen Involvement Committee Atrium/Sloat Room
EUGENE CITY COUNCIL NEWSLETTER PAGE 3
November 14,2002 cc111402.wpd
