Picado, public information specialist, Eugene Parks and Open Space, 682- <br /> 4814 or 682-4800 <br /> FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE <br /> EUGENE STREAM TEAM COORDINATES YOUTH VOLUNTEER EFFORT <br /> AT SIX SITES IN EUGENE THIS SATURDAY <br /> The City of Eugene Stream Team is coordinating the volunteer efforts of 200 young <br /> people from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and their parents as they dedicate <br /> an afternoon to work in area parks and natural areas. From 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. this Saturday, <br /> October 12, the participants, under the supervision of the Stream Team, The Nature <br /> Conservancy, Urban Forestry, and Hendricks Park staff, will pull ash trees, cut and dig-out <br /> blackberries, remove other invasive plants, pick up trash, and do trail maintenance. Work will <br /> be done at the following sites: <br /> 1. Delta Ponds, off of Goodpasture Island Road, past large car dealership on left <br /> Project: Plant 27 western red cedars along the new bikepath which is on the western side of <br /> the Delta Ponds, near the river. <br /> Site contacts: Jeff Anderson or Troy Kreger <br /> 2. Dianna's Pond, end of Nantucket <br /> Project: Cut blackberries from two turtle nesting mounds, pick up litter around the ponds, and <br /> pull pennyroyal, an invasive plant. <br /> Site contacts: Richard Cundiff, Linda Van Cledve and Lauri Mullen <br /> 3. Eastern Gateway wetlands, 7th and Bailey Hill <br /> Project: Pull small Oregon ash trees from meadow, cut blackberries and shrubs along trail, and <br /> pick up litter. <br /> Site contacts: Lorna Baldwin <br /> 4.
