When work crews begin paving the lane next week, a portion of
Interstate 105 will be restricted to one lane westbound and the Delta Highway on-ramp to westbound 1-105 will be closed.
Closure will start at 10 p.m. on Thursday, August 22, and continue until 5 a.m. Monday, August 26.
Wildish Construction began work in May on a $920,000 state highway safety project to provide a new lane for traffic
merging onto westbound 1-105 from southbound Delta Highway. The work being done August 22-26 involves replacing
the existing asphalt shoulder surface with a new concrete lane, and includes time for the concrete to cure sufficiently to
accommodate traffic. Following the concrete lane surfacing work, Wildish is scheduled to continue with shoulder paving
and barrier work through August 30. That work will be done between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. and should not significantly affect
daytime traffic. The bridge widening portion of the project will continue into the fall, with the entire project scheduled for
completion around mid-November 2002.
During the on-ramp closure, traffic from the Valley River area can reach the downtown area by using Delta Highway to I-
105 eastbound to the Coburg Road exit and the Ferry Street Bridge.
