I think we need to be very coordinated with our IGR staff and, by
extension, with Smith-Dawson in offering any comments on pending federal legislation. Jason, I'm looking for some
guidance here.
EricJ
Original Message
From: DUCKETT Scott
Sent: Friday,July 19,2002 10:44 AM
To: MEDLIN Johnny R
Cc: JONES Eric R; PICADO Therese M;WOLD Eric N
Subject: Register Guard Reporter
FYI-I received a call from Greg Bolt who is a reporter at the Register Guard. He asked if I was familiar with an email going
around that is from Mary O'Brien claiming that the West Eugene Wetlands program is going to lose$1 million from Congress
because of the parkway. I told him that I have not seen the email. Apparently the email claims that Congress was going to give
the program another$1 million but that it has been cancelled due to the potential for the parkway to go forward. I am aware that
the House of Representatives had included$1 million for the West Eugene Wetlands in a draft committee budget about two
weeks ago but I have not seen the Senate version, nor have I seen any other information that confirms the email. He was waiting
for a return call from Congressman DeFazio's office for more details about the budget situation.
He continued to interview me about the West Eugene Wetlands program(total acreage, what we would do with the money if it
did come through,etc).
D.
