Although the new UPS system will reduce electrical consumption and provide a <br /> more reliable power source, the installation will require an extended full Data Center shutdown that will affect City of <br /> Eugene internet mail and web server access. The shutdown will begin at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday morning and will last <br /> approximately seven hours. <br /> During this shutdown, no internet activity or services will be available, including email to City staff and connection to the <br /> City web server. This outage affects the entire City of Eugene web site, including Library catalog and services, Airport <br /> flight schedules, and employment pages. Depending upon the Internet Service Provider(ISP)of the sender, email <br /> messages to City staff may be queued and delivered after the outage or returned as undeliverable. (Please save any <br /> returned email and resend the message after 5:00 p.m. PDT on Saturday June 1st.) <br /> Telephone lines at the 911 Communications Center will not be affected by this event.
