Picado, public information specialist, Parks and Open Space, 682-4814 <br /> FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE <br /> COMMUNITY GROUP DOES SPRING CLEANING AT DELTA PONDS <br /> The Downtown Lions Club is holding their annual spring clean-up of Delta Ponds this <br /> Saturday, April 20. A bird walk will be led by Steve Gordon, local bird expert, at 8:30 a.m., <br /> followed by a work party from 10 a.m. to noon. The public is invited to participate in both <br /> activities. <br /> The Cascade Canoe Club will pick up litter from the islands while other groups focus on <br /> removing blackberries and litter from the trail and the parking area. <br /> The project is part of the City of Eugene Stream Team program that facilitates adoptions <br /> of City wetlands and waterways by local community groups. The Downtown Lions Club has <br /> adopted and is responsible for maintaining and restoring the trail through the ponds on the east <br /> side of Goodpasture Island Road. <br /> Snacks, gloves and tools will be provided. Delta Ponds is just north of the Valley River <br /> Center on Goodpasture Island Road. Park on Alexander Loop and walk back to the trail/viewing <br /> platform.
