I've been invited to speak again at their monthly dinner meeting (this coming May
16), and I was asked to send in some notes that they could publish in their newsletter that gets mailed out before the
monthly meeting.
I spoke at length with Greg Giesy(Board Member of OLCA)at Westmoreland Park on Arbor Day about what they would
like me to talk about at the meeting. He was very interested in my talking up the Citygreen project with American Forests
(canopy cover changes in Eugene)as a way to encourage members to"sell"the idea that we need more tree planting in
Eugene. I will certainly talk about the project, but intend to tone down any rhetoric about dire circumstances, and my
article attached reflects that.
I will always try, as you know, Johnny, to give you a draft of something that leaves my office for publication"outside"before
it actually leaves. Sorry I didn't do that this time. I did have time to run it through my mental "Johnny Check"and it came
out OK. :>)
Mark
$`-r 4
Green Theme Article
for May 20...
1
