May 13, 2015

CONTACT: David Starns, Project Manager, 541-682-8306

From Public Information Section, 541-682-5523 or 541-954-2938

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Traffic Advisory
Watch for Lane Closures on East Broadway Near Patterson

Watch for nighttime lane closures on East Broadway between Patterson and Ferry
streets starting Friday, May 15, as a City of Eugene contractor relocates an underground
sewer line to make way for a new pedestrian crossing.
Wildish Construction, working under contract to the Eugene Public Works Department,
plans to sawcut the paving on Friday evening, then will return on Sunday evening and work
from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. until Thursday, with work possibly resuming the following Tuesday.
During nighttime construction hours, one lane will be open in each direction on East
Broadway. Two lanes in each direction will be open during the day.
The job includes relocating about 100 feet of new, 18-inch wastewater pipe in a 12-foot-
deep trench to move it out of the way of a planned pedestrian crossing and a monopole
mast for pedestrian-operated signals related to the crossing. A new wastewater manhole
will be constructed, and a new catch basin will also be constructed to improve stormwater
drainage in the area.
The estimated $100,000 cost of the work will be paid for using system development
charges, which are collected when properties are developed to help pay for improvements
to support growth in the community. The crosswalk is being constructed by the developers
of the Hub on Campus student housing project at 515 East Broadway.
For updates on this and other road projects in the Eugene area, go to
keepusmoving.info or follow EugenePW on Twitter.
# # #

Public Works Administration ● City of Eugene ● 101 E.
