March 25, 2015

CONTACT: Rob Brooks, PWM Street Surface Team Lead Worker, 541-915-2554

From Public Information Section, 541-682-5523 or 541-954-2938

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Block on 19 Avenue Closed for Repairs March 30-April 6
th
Beginning March 30, a one-block section of 19 Avenue between Hilyard and Patterson
th
streets will be closed to through traffic for approximately one week as crews from Eugene Public
Works repair the deteriorated concrete street.
Public Works crews have been working in east and southeast Eugene for several months
repairing failed concrete panels. The crews focus on concrete repairs during late winter and early
spring because much of the work can be done even when the weather is cool and rainy. Asphalt
street repairs, which require warm and dry weather, typically are done in the summer and early
fall.
The work scheduled on 19 Avenue includes curb-to-curb concrete replacement of a
th
portion of the block immediately to the east of South Eugene High School. This will require the
closure of both traffic lanes and the LTD bus stops on both sides of the street. Patterson and Hilyard
streets will remain open although motorists in that area may encounter heavy truck traffic and
minor delays. To ensure that the concrete cures to the proper strength, the street will remain closed
until Monday morning on April 6.
For updates on this and other local street repair projects, go to www.eugene-or.gov/traffic
or follow Public Works on Twitter at EugenePW.
# # #

Public Works Administration ● City of Eugene ● 101 E.
