1
A06 3a 147
1330 East 25th
Eugene OR 97443
213 August 1999
Dear City Councilors: • •
The 26 August article in Eugene Wee kley only added tei a concern of
mine. 'Parks vs. Stadiums" is subtitled "Is this what the voters had in mind?
Let me answer with an emphatic 'no'( I certainly did not
I believe it was Jim Johnson or Barbara Keller who presented and
explained the parks measure to an Amazon Neighbors meeting that I
attended. Z voted For it, thinking of open space and facilities for a wide
range of people not high school students specializing in athletics.
I urge you to reconsider and reverse your interpretation of the
measure. Betty Taylor is my representative, and she voice ray views on this
issue.
My reconsiderations? Who are you people, at this stage in the game,
who thick organized, uniformed sports will add anything to what Newt calls
'American civilisation "? Who are the school board members who can so
brazenly spend in an era of lured- wringing complaints about tight budgets? I
have to reconsider my support for city and school budget measures. Can I
really know what it is I'm voting up or down? These are questions of values
and of trust.
Sincerely -
Erik Muller
Copy to 4J School Board
ji
