Dick introduced David Piercy from 4 -J.
David spoke of the reason for the proposed multi -use facilities. He gave some background about
what 4 -J officials considered when planning for either the 1 or 4 facility options. He
acknowledged concerns about parking, increased traffic, litter and other items of concern to
citizens and residents in the immediate area. He also noted the need to accommodate growth in
the coming years and making use of the money available now, before costs increase. He
mentioned that the school board has asked for options and will discuss this matter again in June.
He opened the floor to questions /comments /concerns.
The residents were very respectful of the speakers and other opinions presented at this
meeting. I felt it was a very healthy exchange of information.
The most frequently noted positive points were:
• The need for kids to have a positive outlet, sports, events and interaction rather than
having time on their hands and potentially getting into trouble.
• Sheldon students indicated they would like to have a facility where they could have
"home" games.
• Preserve team spirit, help our kids work toward something positive for their school.
• Some residents like the idea of a facility at Sheldon, the sounds of kids having fun is a
good thing.
