•
Ownership could take 2 forms:
1) partnering of the City and Madison Meadow (similar to other
Partnering the City has done - i.e. with 4J School District, the West Eugene
Wetlands with the BLM, The Nature Conservancy and the Willamette Resource
Education Network).
2) sole ownership of the property by the City.
While we prefer the 1st form, we are open to either.
Selling requirements include:
1) The property will forever be public open space.
2) the City will not sell or transfer the property to anyone other
than
Madison Meadow.
3) the property will be "natural" open space - not a developed park.
4) if the City becomes sole owner, Madison Meadow will have an
advisory
role in long range plans for the property.
After talking with Johnny Medlin (Parks Director, City of Eugene), we
understand City budget concerns regarding the Operations and Maintenance
costs that come with park acquisitions. If the City and Madison Meadow
enter into partnership for this property, Madison Meadow will assume all
operations and maintenance costs. We have a strong base of volunteer labor
and a history of successful fundraising.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
