January 14, 2008
Eric Bluhm, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
Re: Coordination of Waterway EA and WEEE Project EIS
Page 2
Among others, the following jurisdictions and agencies that are working on the
Enhancement Project EA have been, or will be asked to be, Participating Agencies with
the FTA and LTD on the WEEE Project EIS: LCOG, the City of Eugene, Lane County,
Eugene Water and Electric Board (EWEB), and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. As
such, those jurisdictions and agencies were invited to attend the WEEE Project's Agency
Scoping Meeting held on September 27, 2007, and to comment on the project's proposed
range'6f alternatives to advance into the EIS (the Scoping comment period extension
ended on November 8, 2007).
My hope is that by acknowledging and addressing the proposed WEEE Project alignment
along Reach 5 of the Channel, the Enhancement Project EA and the WEEE Project EIS
can better be coordinated, and through that coordination, better decisions can flow from
both projects. While design details for the proposed Amazon Channel EmX alignment
have not yet been developed, I would be pleased to provide you with any information that
LTD has that could aid you in addressing the WEEE Project in the Waterway Study EA.
I would be pleased to meet and discuss the WEEE Project with you and other Waterway
Study participants to discuss how the WEEE Project could be addressed within the
Enhancement Project EA. Please contact me at 541- 682 -6203 if you would like a meeting
or if you have any follow -up questions or concerns.
Thank you for your consideration of this request.
7 ncerely,
i
Tom Schwetz
WEEE Project Manager
Director of Planning and Development
Lane Transit District
Cc: Byron Vanderpool, LCOG
Col. Thomas O'Donovan, District Commander, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers
Mark Schoening, City of Eugene Public Works
011ie Snowden, Lane County Public Works
Steve Newcomb, Eugene Water & Electric Board
Tom Radmilovich, Community Planner, Region X, FTA
Linda Gehrke, Deputy Administrator, Region X, FTA
Stefano Viggiano, Assistant General Manager, LTD
Eric Wold, City of Eugene Parks and Open Space Division
Jeff Krueger, Lane Council of Governments
