PHILLIPS Chris S
From: PHILLIPS Chris S
Sent: Monday, July 01, 2013 2:51 PM
To: BJORKLUND Neil H
Cc: PHILLIPS Chris S
Subject: Golden Gardens Dog Park Proposed Rule Comments
Neil
Here is a list of the comments that came in while you were gone. Please advise on how /who you
want to address these.
1) 6/24/13 from Todd Wheeler (541- 520 -5843)
Would like to know what the problems were last year. Didn't see any problems at the park
last year.
2) 6/24/13 from Boyd Engelcke (541- 342 -1005)
Would like two applications to be sent to him. Wants to know what happened to bring about
the changes to the policy from last year. Would like to know how the permits work if he
wants to bring a guest with him to practice. Training requires more than one dog, and
therefore would either like the option to get two applications (one for him and another for a
friend),
3) 6/24/13 from Jack Vollstedt (no phone number given) - but we have his address on file.
Would like us to send him the list of applicants so that he could contact another permit
holder in order to train his dogs.
4) 6/27/13 from Ed Zuhlke (541- 521 -3130)
Called about the new license requirements for dogs. Said he is out in the rural area of
Sweethome, Oregon and that Linn County does not require a license for dogs that live out in
the country. Said that his dogs do have their current shots and rabies certificate but no
licenses. Wants to know how the proposed rule will apply to him in this set of
circumstances. Will he /can he /does he have to /need to obtain a Linn or Lane County
license (per dog) in order to use GGPark?
5) 6/27/13 from Jane Patopea (541 913 -7030) - Professional dog trainer
Asked that we send her a temporary permit (through July 31, 2013). Was on our list
previously but not last year. Would like us to send her an application for the new permit at
the following address (sent an email to me on this request) at 24019 Highway 99W, Junction
City, OR 97448 (email: ipatopea(a,aol.com). At any given time, trains 26 dogs and is a
professional dog trainer. Brings a trailer that holds 18 and a truck that holds eight. Has
used this same rig in the past so that parking for others is not at issue. Not sure how the
application process with the new requirements will work. Can she get two permits and train
26 dogs by sending in the two applications and enclosing all of the licenses and rabies certs,
or is there only one application per dog? If each application only allows one dog, then she
would need 26 applications. That would only leave four applications available to a host of
other folks. I have already sent her out the temporary permit.
That's it so far for comments. The notice was posted all 5 days. Jackie gave me a code to bill to,
and Clara gave me her credit PCard to pay for the notice.
1
