From: Brandon Reishus fmailto :brandon.s.reishus@state.or.usl
Sent: Tuesday, February 01, 2011 4:44 PM
To: Brandon Reishus
Subject:
Dog Trainers other interested folks,
Here is a link to a news release which announces the first meeting of the Dog and Raptor Training
Advisory Group which is now being formed as well as a Temporary Rule which was recently enacted by
the Department.
http://www.dfw.state.orus/news/2011/february/020111c.asp
The temporary rule is intended to provide a lawful way for people to train their dogs while the permanent
rules are being developed. Specifically the rule addresses and allows training during certain times of the
year when in the past that activity has been prohibited. It also provides a lawful way for domestically
reared wildlife to be shot or taken by a raptor outside of a normal hunting season when in the past that
activity has been prohibited. Further information, and a link to the permit form which continues to be
required to release domestically reared game birds, can be found here
http: / /www.dfw.state.or.us /wildlife /dog training /index.asp. The permit form is also attached. The rule is
temporary in nature and will expire on July 25 , 2011 or when permanent rule making occurs, which ever
happens first.
Please let me know if you have any questions
Regards,
Blandon S. Reishus
Assistant Game Bird Biologist
Oregon Dept. of Fish and Wildlife
3406 Cherry Ave NE
Salem, OR 97303
Office (503) 947 -6324
Cell (503) 580 -8725
Fax (503) 947 -6330
email: brandon.s.reislius@state.or.us
