The dedication will be held at
the Moon Terrace in the Native Plant Garden from 3:00 - 3:30 p.m. on Saturday,
September 28, 2013.

Jerry did not wish to have any public memorial service, so it's important that this event
focus on his support of the Native Plant Garden. He preferred that those who loved him
celebrate their relationships with him in small, private gatherings (which
he expected might involve wine!).

The dedication of the plaque will include three short citations; one by a representative of
the Friends of Hendricks Park, one by his sister-in-law Beth Copeland, and one by his
close friend Deb Green. Afterwards, there will be a toast to Jerry, immediately followed
by time to explore and take in the beauty of the Native Plant Garden.

Jerry championed the Native Plant Garden as a loving tribute to his wife, Mary Rear
Blakely, as well as to fulfill a goal of the Eugene Parks and Recreation Department to
bring this type of garden to its citizens. We hope you will come to celebrate his
accomplishment with us on September 28. Please respond to this email to let us know
if you

will

be coming.

Thank you,

2
