• EUGENE Public Works Maintenance 1820 Roosevelt Boulevard Eugene, Oregon 97402 May 24, 19 9 4 (503) 687-5220 Regarding: Amazon Park Planning Dear Interested Parties: The second public information session to discuss the new changes to the draft Amazon Park Development Plan will be held on June 7, 1994, 7:30 p.m. at the Hilyard Center, 2580 Hilyard Street, Eugene. We have prepared a second draft of the Amazon Park Development Plan that responds to the comments we have received from interested citizens at the first meetings, and by mail and phone. In addition to the public input, the Plan must consider and balance a number of other elements, including environmental, social and economic values and other pertinent goals, policies and proposed actions contained in local planning documents. The changes outlined in the new draft Plan attempt to balance these interests and concerns. A number of questions have been raised by citizens. We have prepared a question and answer fact sheet (see attached) that offers additional information on the key questions and issues that were identified. Many of you wrote in support of continuation of the dog off -leash area. Because of past City Council action on this issue, and because of tremendous support for the program, it was never a staff intent to portray a possible discontinuance; rather, this is a time when it can be evaluated, and modifications for improvement suggested. A copy of the draft plan with the proposed changes will be posted in the lobby of the Hilyard Center on June 1. The Plan will remain there until the June 7 information session. Please feel free to stop by and review it before the meeting during hours the building is open.
