i
* We are agreeing to fund or perform an initial survey of
rare plants on city lands along amazon creek south of Amazon
Park to a maximum contribution of $3,000. We are also
agreeing to reperform this survey every 10 years.
* We are agreeing to fund or perform a monitoring survey of
existing rare plants within the same area once every 5 years
to a maximum contribution of $2,000.
* Both of the above monetary agreements are fully contingent
on the availability of funds. USF &G well understands that in
the Tight of BM 47 there is no funds currently available and
are fine with this. In fact their response is that they will
look for funds within their organization to help with the
surveys.
* We agree to notify the parties of the agreement prior to
performing activities within the area which may impact the
plants.
Any of the parties to the agreement can terminate the
agreement (without penalty) at any time by sending notice to
the other parties.
From the meetings I've had with NPSO and USF &W, the important
thing to them has really been that a signed agreement has been
reached and not at all to place additional burdens on the
city. USF &W staff feel the agreement will be very good PR
internally for them. NPSO has felt that the agreement was
assure we don't change policy direction so quickly that they
are not informed and given a chance to discuss.
Thanks
Johnny
Page 2
