Don Canavan
1540 Jefferson
Eugene, OR 97402
November 29, 2004
Johnny R. Medlin
Director, Parks & Open Spaces
Eugene Public Works
1820 Roosevelt Boulevard
Eugene, OR 970402
Dear Johnny:
This letter is in response to your letter of November 9, 2004 to Anson Berg regarding the
resolution of problems associated with access to 1565 Jefferson Alley.
During our telephone conversation in October, I expressed an interest in vacation of the
alley and purchasing our share of the vacated property. However, now that Option #3
(purchase of a non - exclusive access easement from the City of Eugene to serve as legal
access to the 1565 Jefferson Alley parcel) is available, it is by far the preferable solution.
Until we received your letter of Nov. 9, 2004, we were not aware that such a purchase
option was available to Anson Berg. With that option available, my wife and I are no
longer interested in purchasing a share of the vacated alley (Option #2) and we would
continue to contest development of the existing alley (Option #4) by any means available.
We feel confident that Anson will choose Option #3 as the least expensive, least
disruptive, and most expedient option, for a final and long overdue resolution of this
issue.
Sinc - - ly,
J d /
Don anavan
CC: Anson Berg
James & Terry Holzgang
