It may revegetate passively. As resources allow, and as priorities dictate, a
more active planting approach should be considered in the context of invasive species passively
establishing themselves.
3. Royal Avenue to Fern Ridge Reservoir
a) Existing Conditions
A very significant characteristic of this reach is that, at times, the water level is actually higher
than the ground level in some areas. The banks on both sides are steep and high for flood
protection. There are more and different species than on the section before, but it is still an open
landscape. The woody understory has no associate species.
WILLOW - RIPARIAN FOREST
Canopy
Dominant species
• Salix lucida ssp. lasiandra Pacific willow
Associate species
• Arbutus menzisii Madrone
• Pinus ponderosa Ponderosa pine
• Populus balsamifera ssp. richo.
