Implementation of the vision will be achieved through the combined efforts of the partnership, property <br />owners, and the public. Implementation will rely on a non- regulatory approach and voluntary land owner <br />participation. The acquisition of this property is supported by this Vision and Action Plan. <br />Eugene City Council Recent Actions and Public Hearings. Additionally, the Southeast Neighborhood in <br />which this parcel lies has been consistently active and supportive of additional parks and open space acqui- <br />sitions within their boundaries, and particularly active around parcels that contain headwaters of Amazon <br />Creek. On May 21, 2007 a public hearing was held before the Eugene City Council regarding the consid- <br />eration of using eminent domain to acquire this property and another nearby property. Over 40 Eugene <br />residents spoke in favor of protecting the properties. The City's use of eminent domain to acquire this <br />property is not currently an issue as the seller has willingly entered into a purchase option with the City. <br />
