MEDLIN Johnny R
From: RICHARDSON Philip S
Sent: Monday, July 21, 2008 12:03 PM
To: MEDLIN Johnny R
Subject: Lot 8 parking spaces
Johnny,
A relatively quick layout, and with standard aisles (24' for 90 degree spaces) and space sizing (9'x18') gets me:
• 38 spaces (including 2 -3 ADA spots) for the new gravelled parking area,
• 150 spaces (no ADA) for the new grassy area after trees are planted,
• 220 spaces (no ADA) for the grassy area before trees are planted.
I'm not sure if the ADA requirements for temporary event parking are identical to permanent Tots, but I believe that with
150 spaces, 5 ADA spots would be required, and with 220, there would need to be 7 ADA spots. That would presumably
reduce the total spaces by maybe 2 or 3.
John Clark said that the UO indicated they could get 450 cars in there. Surely temporary event parking dimensions are
squeezed somewhat, but it's hard for me to believe that number, and if it's true it's got to be unsafe.
Philip Richardson
Landscape Architect
Eugene Parks and Open Space Division
1820 Roosevelt Blvd.
Eugene, OR 97402 -4199
541 - 682 -4906
Messages to and from this email address may be available to the public under Oregon Public Records law.
•
1
