I O Street <br />Eugene, Oregon <br />July 15, 2010 <br />6 p.m. <br />PRESENT: Jeff Ard, Vice Chair; Charlotte Behm, Charles Biggs, Theresa Brand, William Hughes, <br />Charlene Larison, Elliot McIntire, Vicky Mello, Mary Morrison, David Sonnichsen, <br />members; Greg Hyde, Willamalane Park and Recreation District; Philip Richardson, City <br />of Eugene Parks and Open Space; Jon Ruiz, City Manager; Gene Holloter,; Kathy Saran - <br />pa, Neighborhood Leaders Council on Committee on Sustainability. <br />ABSENT: Steve Cooper, Chair; Cora Jones, Sally Nunn, Barbara May, Kate Ferschweiler, members. <br />1. Review and Adjust Agenda <br />Mr. Ard convened the meeting of the Citizen Planning Committee (CPC) for the Whilamut Natural Area <br />(WNA) of Alton Baker Park at 6:03 p.m. <br />Mr. Sonnichsen asked Mr. Richardson a question about the April 15, 2010 minutes. Reading from the top <br />of page 6, he read: "He also related that Natural Resources staff had some concerns about enhancement <br />work Nearby Nature had undertaken and would be meeting with them to ensure that their work was in ac- <br />cord with the Whilamut Natural Area Restoration and Management Plan." He asked Mr. Richardson to <br />elaborate before the CPC approved the minutes. <br />Mr. Richardson stated that Lori Holts had actually said that, and he did not know much more about it. He <br />noted that Natural Resources staff had expressed some concerns, and just wanted to make sure Nearby Na- <br />ture was aware of the Plan and conformed to it. <br />Mr. Sonnichsen thanked Mr. Richardson. <br />2. Introductions <br />Those present introduced themselves. <br />3. Public Comment <br />Kathy Saranpa felt as though the CPC and the Eugene Neighborhood Leaders Council's Committee on <br />Sustainability ( NLCCS) were on the same team. She said that the CPC dealt with a park and the NLCCS <br />dealt with homes and neighborhoods. She explained that the NLCCS's charge was to spread information <br />about more sustainable living. They had started a website, www.euaenesustainabiliiy.com The NLCCS <br />was also organizing green bike tours, which would start on July 17 in the River Road neighborhood. The <br />NLCCS would hold a city -wide teach -in on October 30 at the First Methodist Church, and would invite <br />speakers and organizations to do tabling.
