David Sonnichsen has compiled the following list of possible subcommittee <br />priorities. It is being sent to CPC members with the agenda at Howie's <br />request. <br />Wildlife Habitat Subcommittee Priorities: <br />♦ Canoe Canal Renovation <br />• increasing fish habitat <br />• creating a more meandering waterway <br />• advocating for a direct and natural intake system from Willamette River <br />into canoe canal <br />♦ "Adopt -an- area" in WNA for CPC Members to monitor <br />♦ Amphibian Habitat: hands -on opportunities to propose and construct structures in <br />WNA prairie area for amphibians <br />♦ Erosion control from dogs on S. bank of canoe canal just E. of ABP dog park <br />♦ Bird Boxes: identify and place additional boxes <br />♦ Invasive Species: identify, inventory and remove <br />♦ Oak Savanna <br />Charles Biggs' proposal to convert some of WNA prairie area into an oak savanna <br />♦ Recreation funding sources to promote: <br />o Former CPC member and wildlife habitat subcommittee chair Ed <br />Fredette's idea promoting a kayaking competitive area in canoe canal N <br />of ABP dog park (Note: this area is outside WNA boundary) <br />* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * ** <br />Signage Subcommittee Priorities: <br />♦ "Welcome to the Whilamut Natural Area" banner at N end of Autzen footbridge: <br />temporary, to be flown between two poles before and after large Autzen events <br />such as football and Olympic Trials, when many people will cross footbridge, city of <br />Eugene logo, etc., attractive design <br />♦ Seasonal signs notifying dog owners that their pets must be on -leash bird nesting <br />and amphibian protection placed by park host and /or POS workers during day, <br />removed at evening <br />♦ "Welcome to Eastgate Woodlands" signage <br />♦ River Hazard warning at Eastgate boat ramp to replace old sign no longer in place <br />♦ Additional bicycle segregation from Eastgate bankside path notifying riders that <br />bicycling constitutes a hazard, particularly for the alter -abled and to children <br />
