The 3.23 -acre site will be developed into a new park. At this time,
City staff is proposing the money be used to purchase a second park site in the Willakenzie
area. As a result of the exchange, Gilham Park was closed on July 8.
This exchange will provide an improved park location in the Willakenzie area and will
increase the safety of park users because the new park is located away from Gilham Road, a
major arterial.
Paradise Homes plans to build residential homes at the Gilham Park site. Roads into
_ the new park will be constructed as part of the Paradise Homes subdivision.
The exchange was coordinated with the Eugene Water and Electric Board and Gilham
Elementary School. School District 4 -J plans to construct a new playground at Gilham
Elementary School adjacent to the new park site.
more
