The first event is <br />a slide show and lecture on the birds of Delta Ponds which will be offered on Thursday, <br />January 19 beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the Willamette Oaks Retirement Center, 455 Alexander <br />Loop off Goodpastuie Island Road. Dan Gleason from the Audubon Society of Lane County <br />will make the presentation. <br />Two additional activities are scheduled for Saturday, January 21. The day leads off <br />with an 8:00 a.m. bird watching expedition. The field trip to Delta Ponds will be led by <br />Steve Gordon of the Audubon Society of Lane County. Participants should meet at River <br />Park Living Center, 425 Alexander Loop off Goodpasture Island Road. <br />At 10:00 a.m. that same morning, volunteers are invited to help fill and stack sand <br />bags to repair a leak between two of the ponds. Participants should dress in layers and wear <br />sturdy shoes or boots and rain gear for both events. If the weather is especially poor, this <br />activity will be postponed until Saturday, January 28. Refreshments will be served and all <br />events are free and open to the public. All events are co- sponsored by Friends of Delta <br />Ponds and coordinated by the City,of Eugene Public Works Stream Team. <br />( SORE ) <br />
