HAMMITT Bob
From: ETTER John F
To: ANDERSEN Chris F
Cc: HAMMITT Bob; MEDLIN Johnny R
Subject: Jim Torrey and Delta Ponds
Date: Wednesday, October 11, 1995 4:04PM
I just got off the phone with Jim, who quickly went over some park issues in his ward. In particular he
mentioned the conversation he had with you after the council meeting on Delta Ponds and your idea for
going after it in two stages, which is more palatable for us from a financial and management standpoint.
Jim asked that I share with you my comments to him about planning in the two step scenario. My
comments were that I thought we should plan for the whole area regardless of where R/W lines fell since
the natural systems do not respect R/W or property lines. (An almost canned answer that fit here, but he
liked it.) Implementing some of what might be planned would just have to wait until road designs that are
not yet done are completed.
Jim, admitting to'being the politician, wants to show the efforts and results at Delta Ponds, but he felt our
energy and funding should be going to new parks at both the north end of his ward and Ward 4.
- -John
Page 1
