i
November 10, 1995
1772 Happy Lane
Eugene, OR 97401
Mr. John Etter
Public Works -- Maintenance
1820 Roosevelt Blvd.
Eugene, OR 97402
Subj: Proposal to Purchase Portion of Bond Lane Park
Dear Mr. Etter,
1. I desire to purchase from the City of Eugene a 10' x 100' strip of land adjacent to the
east side of my property (see attachment) that is currently part of Bond Lane Park.
Acquiring the land would allow me to expand my garage. Based upon my 1995 tax bill, I
estimate the land to be worth approximately $6000.
2. When I approached you about this before you raised two objections: (1) that the width
of the park would be compromised and (2) that official maps would have to be redrawn.
Your most recent proposal to develop the park, however, compromises the width of the
park at nearly the same location (by adding a cul -de -sac to Happy Lane) and requires
redrawing of official maps (by trading parcels with Mr. Greer).
3. The City of Eugene would benefit from this sale in two ways: (1) the city would
receive approximately $6000 to help improve Bond Lane Park or to help purchase land for
parks in other areas and (2) the city (and county and school district) would receive
additional yearly taxes. The strip is so narrow and in such a location that its sale would in
no way affect the utilization of the park.
Sincerely,
Charles E.
