MEMORANDUM <br /> Date: February 21, 1996 <br /> To: Mayor and City Council <br /> From: John Etter and John Weber <br /> Parks Planning, Public Works Department <br /> Subj: Status Report on Park Site Acquisition Program <br /> 1. Purpose of this report <br /> This memo provides a status report on the study of park site acquisition and funding needs that <br /> was undertaken in accordance with the "park acquisition criteria" approved by Council on March <br /> 6, 1995. In addition to the priority ranked acquisition list, acquisition funds currently available <br /> are identified, and the unfunded acquisition needs are shown. <br /> 2. Contents <br /> Attached you will find: <br /> a. A report dated February 19, 1996, titled "Park Site Acquisition Program." <br /> b. Tables, by park planning districts, ranking the proposed new park sites and listing critical <br /> site information for each. <br /> c. Map of Eugene, titled "Park Site Acquisitions," showing locations of new park sites <br /> as well as existing parks, schools, and areas of the city that are unserved by a playground. <br /> (Note: A large scale color map will be placed in the Councilor's room for viewing <br /> between Feb.23rd and March 1) <br /> 3. Future Activity <br /> Staff will continue to pursue the acquisition of park land based on the strategies as presented in <br /> the attached park site acquisition program report. Park sites will be purchased and developed <br /> according to the limitations set forth in the SDC Methodology. <br /> As additional park land is acquired and development takes place there will be a need to provide <br /> for increased operational costs.
