This update focuses on activities <br /> that have occurred since July 1999. <br /> ialgagig <br /> Parkland Acquisition 'VP" <br /> The acquisition of 16 acres in the upper headwaters of Amazon Creek is <br /> complete. This was an effort negotiated jointly by City staff, the Audubon <br /> Society and the owner /developer. The parcel is located at the end of West Amazon Drive, just <br /> south of Martin and adjacent to Hult Ridgeline Park. <br /> In cooperation with The Nature Conservancy and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), the <br /> City has acquired approximately 20 acres known as the Quarry Lane site in the Willow Creek <br /> Watershed. The Bureau of Land Management funded approximately 80 percent of the purchase <br /> price and retains a conservation easement over the property. <br /> An offer to acquire a 4 -acre park site west of River Road in the Santa Clara neighborhood is <br /> pending final subdivision plat and is approximately 30 days from closing. A 4 -acre <br /> neighborhood park site acquisition along Garden Way is pending some remedial site cleanup and <br /> a PUD modification by the owner. Other acquisition efforts funded by system development <br /> charge (SDC) funds include a 4 -acre neighborhood park site which has been acquired at the <br /> southwest corner of Ross Lane and Lone Oak Drive and negotiations on a 3 -acre neighborhood <br /> park site in the Ayres Road area. <br /> Park Development Projects <br /> Alton Baker Park -- The 1986 Alton Baker Park Master Plan is currently in the process of being <br /> repealed to remove inconsistencies with the West and East Park Plans. Eugene, Springfield, and <br /> Lane County elected officials held a joint public hearing on September 29. No opposition was <br /> voiced, and no action was taken. The Eugene Council is scheduled to take action on the repeal of <br /> the 1986 Master Plan on October 25. Following this repeal, staff will begin the application <br /> process for a Willamette Greenway Permit which is needed to implement the current plan. <br />
