The Sheldon field, as I'm sure many of us continue to tell you, is a wonderful place as it exists now and is
used continually. If it is telly f+aneed off; as is proposed as a solution to current parking issues, it will no
longer be a user - friendly area and will very soon fall into disrepair— weeds growing all along the cement
Page Two
line of the fence (weeds in the track fenceline now are totally ignored), fencing being cut bypecple who
either aren't willing to walk to a gate which teary or tray not be unlocked, or who just want to destroy
something. Right now the field is open and beautifully maintained and is apositiveto us. Ato mpts to
address we negative (traf ic/ arking) mate a different negative. Also it's difficult for me to understarud
how dosing off(via a fenced athletic field) a significant portion of an apes space creates more open
space, as officials are trying to convince us.
As you make your decision, pease hear us. Please visit often the schools to set what activity already
exists =dm what level the areas arc being used, 1 can't believe there isn't an area in Eugene that can't be
used for this purpose and that will serve everyone well. /recognize that yours is a difficult position to
hold and 1 recognize that we all mot give some, However,) believe the residents in the Sheldon area are
already giving their fair share and the athletic community can be a bit more reasonable as to WANT and
NEED.
At 54, my life is not what 1 thought it would bettor do 1 have everything that 1 WANT; probably
, countless folks would agree with that. However, Intake the bog of what 1 have and 1 think Ws time the
City and 41 did the same.
