Ms. Jan Childs
September 20, 2001
Parks Comment 2:
The area of the proposed PUD is poorly served by neighborhood park facilities. The Eugene
Parks and Recreation Plan, adopted in 1989, established a goal of providing neighborhood
parks within 2 mile walking distance of all residences.
Response:
There are two, perhaps three parks within %2 mile of the proposed PUD. Hawkins View Park is
well within 1/2 mile of the PUD. Melvin Miller Park and Hawkins Heights Park are
approximately %2 mile away.
The applicant hopes this letter and the enclosed memo make a useful contribution to city
and county parks planning. We also hope it will insulate this particular land use proposal from
staff demands to exact park land to link to a Ridgeline Trail park that has no legal status. Thank
you for your consideration.
Sin fely,
Bill • • .
cc: Client
Kent Howe, Lane County Planning Director
Andrea Riner, Eugene Parks Department
Scott Goebel
Brian McCarthy
Cuddc
