We also know of your frequently stated appreciation of the river and
Greenway through our city, and your recognition that the Greenway is an important and valuable
asset for the whole community. We look forward to talking with you at your earliest convenience in
the hopes that we can address any of your concerns about the restoration effort at Rasor Park, and
move forward with the process. The new native shrubs and flowers that we planned to plant at the
park this weekend are temporarily "heeled in" in somebody's yard, but really need to go into the
ground in the next month. To accomplish this, we will need to reschedule our planting event as soon
as possible. In addition, we are planning to involve local school classes in planting milkweed in the
park later this spring, in monitoring for monarch butterflies, and in other activities aimed at restoring
and protecting habitat for, and educating about some of our nearly- disappeared Willamette Valley
native species such as meadowlark and salmon. We hope to receive reaffirmation of City support for
establishing un -mowed meadow zones in some areas of Rasor Park this spring, so that we may
proceed with these activities.
Sincerely,
4"---.
Becky Rile (for the Ste ng Committee)
cc: Tim Rhay, Andrea Riner
City Councilors
