•
WNQP /JAN Executive Committee Meeting
November 26, 1991
Present: Wes Bigelow, Rhonda Budd, Doug Card, Bean Comrada, Dave Gusset, Mary Kelley, Molly
Stafford
West Broadway conditional use permit recommendation
Receipt by Bigelow of the City's qualified recomendation announcement reminded Comrada that she
had not notified the Hearing Official of WNQP's majority vote of approval; she will so notify all
parties by letter and ask that the formal WNQP vote be attached to the hearings record.
December meeting
Agenda set throughout the meeting; Comrada and MacDonald to supply refreshments. Budd reported
that Munoz/Hale will coordinate child care. Everything set for Fairgrounds Master Plan discussion.
Mate crimes
Card noted the Bahai music evening as a positive— although non - neighborhood —step; no Community
against Hate meeting held due to Eugene Decisions meetings. All present remarked on the
inappropriate remarks by Officer Grimes at the November general meeting; Comrada to inform
Director of Public Safety by letter.
Book Sale
- Bigelow to coordinate, call volunteers from sign -up sheet, and check with Jan Bohman; all present
volunteered to assist in one or more ways; selling techniques discussed. First sale will be Saturday,
12/14 (10 -4) and Sunday, 12/15 (noon -4). Books to be sold at 25 cents each or 10 for $2.
McNail/Riley House
Card: on -site bidding on 12/6; deadline and decision on 12/19. Bids to include both with- and - without-
volunteer -help estimates; volunteer supervision planned by City. City has some sign money;
discussion followed on style, content, and placing of signs, and on contacting the professional sign -
painters who had volunteered earlier.
Newsletter
Stafford: many articles received, including many from City departments; more money from City will
be needed if more pages become necessary. Someone still needed to coordinate delivery as Richard
Jessup has moved.
Goodbye to Mary Kelley
A surprise thank -you and goodbye toast was held for Mary Kelley, since she moves to West
University Neighborhood on 12/6. She was acclaimed for her achievements, accomplishments, and
good cheer, and accorded the status of Honorary Member of the WNQP /JAN Executive Committee.
She received her portion of the celebratory refreshments in Bigelow's best goblet (gold - rimmed); the
rest of us made do with canning jars; Comrada to store the neighborhoods' glitzy prize ribbons,
acquired by Kelley for the highly successful 2nd Annual Interdependence Day Celebration which she
engineered.
