INTERVIEW QUESTIONS
1. Briefly have each person of your team explain their role in the development of this
management plan.
2. This projects genesis was the controversy out of disagreement between park users and
neighbors about the necessity to remove trees. I believe the City Council will feel this process
has failed if that happens again. How will the product of your work affect the likelihood of this
happening again?
3 There are diverse objectives for what various people want this park to be. What has been your
experience (and success ?) in mediating divergent points of view in planning efforts? How did
you "get to yes" or achieve consensus?
4 What negative consequences would there be for the quality of the report if you were to use the
current mapping of the park supplied by the Parks Planning Office? Current records where not
based on actual topographic surveys are probably horizontally accurate to within 10 feet in the
developed portions of the park, and to within 40 feet in the remote areas, and vertically accurate
to within 10 feet in the remote areas. Given no change in the overall price, what part of the study
would you expand to enhance the overall study?
5. Since this forest park is impacted by, and has a relationship with, immediate neighbors as
well as patrons from around the metropolitan area, how will their needs be factored into this
management study?
6. Philosophically, the first vision statement alludes to the fact that Hendricks Park has "unique
ecological, historical, educational, recreational, and aesthetic resources for our human and natural
communities." Do you see any problems in crafting a management plan that is responsive to, and
can accommodate, these various resources? If any conflicts exist between them, what measures
would you take toward mediating those conflicts?
7. Both proposals indicated that better inventory information would be obtained if additional
time was allowed. If the date of delivery for the final report was extended to July 15, 1999, how
would this impact your product?
