Gary is most interested in
doing something about the ponds because of the drowning of his grandson. His organization, The
Friends of Golden Gardens, which is chaired by Mr. Davis's daughter -in -law, is interested in
seeing something done about the safety of the ponds. They would actually like to see the land
developed with housing and parks. The land is becoming somewhat of a public nuisance in that
is impossible, even with great help from the sheriff and city police, to keep people from camping,
dumping, etc. on the property. The property is just outside the UGB. Charles VanDuyn and I
either own or control approximately 200 acres around and near the ponds.
We have been in touch with Johnny Medlin and Kurt Yeiter. In an effort to reach a
consensus in this matter it has been suggested that a meeting with you, the parks people, the
planners and the Golden Gardens leaders might be very helpful as a follow up to the June
workshop. Please let us know if you have an interest in meeting.
