The last session was held January 28 and we have not yet had time to summarize the findings. At your February 12 meeting, we'll talk about some of the themes that are emerging, as we have time to look at the data, and next steps. The CIC will have an opportunity to review all of the data that has emerged during these sessions and make comments and recommendations to the Council Committee on Citizen Involvement and Organizational Change. Action Requested: No action -- information; questions and answers. Background: Brainstorming sessions conducted thus far have gathered ideas from citizens who are already active in City affairs. The Council Committee is still considering where to gather input from citizens who don't usually participate in City government. Options for a telephone survey, newspaper ad /questionnaire and intercept survey are being researched. Brainstorming sessions were conducted with the following groups: • Neighborhood Leaders • Citizen Involvement Committee • Representatives from City Standing Committees: - Budget Committee, Planning Commission, Human Rights Commission • Representatives from various citizen advisory committees: - Police Forum - Citizen's Police Academy - Department advisory committees (voter pool reps) - Volunteers for city activities • Representatives from community groups: - Citizens for Public Accountability II -1
