Hendricks Park Trees Proposed for Removal
Compiled Group Evaluations
August 27, 1997
Tree No: 24
Comments: Some decay, not as bad as some others, wait on this one, keep an eye on it, 110 yrs
old, monitor; Looks rather vigorous to me, it's lee position during winter storms is a concern;
Risk factor: leans towards target (house), decay at base of tree;
Recommend Removal: 2 Oppose Removal: 4 Monitor Closely: 5
Tree No: 25
Comments: Visible conk, some sigmoid shape to entire tree, still looks vigorous, plenty of crown
dominant crown position; Stem not severe, infectious to other trees;
Recommend Removal: 2 Oppose Removal: 5 Monitor Closely: 4
Tree No: 28
Comments: Top is flagging, tree is dying, leave part as wildlife habitat; proximity to
rd/shelter /parking lot makes it a hazard to falling limbs after death and eventual decomposition,
recommend removal ONLY of the portion above 40' after it dies; Top is flagging, a lot of rot on
road side at base, losing its crown, a dying tree; Recommend topping the tree with a tall snag left
to remain for wildlife habitat; Leave snag for wildlife habitat; Designate as wildlife and remove
limbs only.
Recommend (at least partial) Removal: 10 Oppose Removal: 1 Monitor Closely:
Tree No: 53
Comments: Very thin, has a lean, suppressed tree, possible removal; This tree does lean toward
SW corner of the shelter, it would have been dead in normal unaffected canopy; Leave snag for
wildlife;
Recommend Removal: 9 Oppose Removal: 1 Monitor Closely: 1
Tree No: 46
