HENDRICKS PARK
Hendricks park picnic shelter includes 6 picnic tables, seating 6 -8 people each, a maximum of 50
people. One drinking faucet and one spigot are available, lights and outlets are on a timer. A
fireplace is also available, but locked. Renters need to get the key from 1820 Roosevelt PRIOR
to the event and this key is also their responsibility to return. The electric outlets are on one
twenty amp circuit, and the circuit will overload usually with more than one heat producing
appliance.
Upon conclusion of the event the shelter should be left in a clean state - all the garbage must be
placed in the garbage receptacles. Decorations, etc. should be removed, and the fireplace locked,
if it has been opened and used. Renters should provide their own firewood and remove any
excess. (It takes a good fire in that big fireplace to really get any heat out of it.)
No staples or nails may be used. Any defacing of the shelter building will result in holding the
deposit for repairs. Tape and paper gum may be used to decorate, but must be removed. Rental
season extends April 1- Oct. 31. During the winter season the water is turned off. Rental hours
are 9:00 a.m. - 10 p.m. We only allow one rental per day. The restrooms are open until dark.
The rock restrooms are the nearest and open during the same season as the shelter. There is one
parking site for persons with a disability and the grounds are wheelchair accessible. We
encourage people to car pool. If you intend to car pool in a bus please inform staff who will then
help accommodate you in a special parking area.
Group activities at Hendricks park are limited to the picnic shelter and the area immediately
surrounding it and the large open picnic area. Renters must see the map of these areas and sign
along with the rental agreements. Renting the shelter in no way allows for the use of the
Rhododendron garden for group activities.
All other rules of commercial use of the building apply. Insurance agreements are needed when
alcohol is being served and or catered meals served. All other park rules apply, including no
kegs, no glass bottles, and no hard liquor.
{ The picnic shelter may be reserved, but no structures or barriers erected, the parking lots are not
reserved and also may not be blocked. People reserving the shelter have the right to ask others to
leave the shelter and should have their rental agreements with them when using the facility; they
may also sit in the shelter parking lot and ask other park users to park elsewhere.
COST
$60.00 for a day /$100.00 security deposit, refundable after use
Renters may set up canopies and chairs only with special permission
Amplified sound is prohibited, although renters may ask permission for "quiet" music or sound.
