MANAGEMENT PLAN <br /> The following objectives set forth recommendations to ensure a healthy tree <br /> population in Hendricks Park. <br /> 1. Encourage the HEALTHY GROWING CONDITIONS of trees in the rhododendron <br /> garden. <br /> a. Develop a planting plan for the redevelopment of the rhododendron <br /> garden which respects the native trees and valuable specimen trees. <br /> b. Use maintenance and construction practices which promote healthy <br /> tree growth. <br /> 2. PLANTING OF NEW TREES should be consistent with a redevelopment plan <br /> for the rhododendron garden. <br /> a. Selection of new trees should be limited to species which complement <br /> the rhododendron garden plantings. <br /> b. Planting of new trees shall be authorized by the Executive Manager <br /> of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Services or to the authority <br /> he delegates. <br /> 3. The unnecessary REMOVAL OF TREES shall be avoided. <br /> a. Native trees should be removed when they exhibit substantial decline <br /> or hazardous conditions. <br /> b. Trees which were planted as a replacement canopy for the existing <br /> native oaks should be removed when the need for replacement no <br />
