•
BASIC PROPOSAL INFORMATION ( limit: 1 page )
1. PROJECT PLAN:
a. What is the main focus of this proposal? (For example, a three day event, printing of
a map, production of a promotional video)
Printing 5000 Hendricks Park Rhododendron Garden Brochures, similar to attached
brochure, which is out of date and out of print.
b. What are the project activities?
Design, printing and distribution of brochures.
c. When will this activity occur?
Brochures will be distributed in advance to promote tours and conventions and year -
round garden interest. Brochures will also be distributed on -site at Hendricks Park during the
peak season, March through June.
d. Who is the target market? What is your strategy for reaching the target market?
The target market includes area residents and their guests, regional garden clubs and
societies and West Coast garden enthusiasts (Califomia to British Columbia). Brochures
distributed through specialized nurseries and at garden society conventions, including The
Magnolia Society, The American Rhododendron Society and the Hardy Plant Society, attract
local, national and international interest. Brochures distributed through area Chambers of
Commerce and Visitor and Convention Centers attract tour groups and conventions of general
interest. Brochures are also distributed to area garden clubs to encourage tours.
2. PROJECT GOALS: WHAT RESULTS do you expect? (For example : visitor attendance
projections for event? number of distribution sites approved? number of responses
generated from publication? number of room nights booked ?)
A new brochure will attract a greater number of visitors to Hendricks Park and
Rhododendron Garden, both casual visitors and organized tours of the garden. The brochure
will also attract horticultural conventions , such as the American Rhododendron Society
Convention in Eugene in 2001. The brochure also has an educational value, stimulating
interest in horticulture, which promotes sales of omamental plants in local nurseries and
interest in landscaping. Furthermore, a brochure of Hendricks Park and the Rhododendron
Garden promotes Eugene livability, stressing a landmark park and garden.
2
