HAMMITT Bob
From: ANDERSEN Chris F
To: HAMMITT Bob
Subject: RE: Successful Hendricks Park Brochure Grant Application!
Date: Friday, May 26, 1995 2:23PM
Great idea! Chris
From: HAMMITT Bob
To: SMITH Terry M; ANDERSEN Chris F
Subject: FW: Successful Hendricks Park Brochure Grant Application!
Date: Thursday, May 25, 1995 11:44AM
For your info. Would like to place a short article in council
newsletter to let them know we received the grant. Bob
From: WRIGHT - MCINTOSH Mary E
To: *PW SW Tech Committee; *PW SW Policy Team; *PW Eng Water Resources Team
Cc: POTTER Glen D; ROBERT Michael J
Subject: Successful Hendricks Park Brochure Grant Application!
Date: Thursday, May 25, 1995 9:10AM
A SUCCESS STORY: As some of you may be aware, Michael Robert
(Head Gardener at Hendricks Park Rhododendron Garden) applied
to the Lane County Tourism Board in early May for a $5,000
"special projects" grant to develop and produce 5,000 color
brochures on the Hendricks Garden. Michael notified me
yesterday that the grant was successful!
Michael prepared the grant application on behalf of the City
of Eugene Public Works Maintenance, Parks Services division.
The application included two letters of support from prominent
local nurserymen Roger Gossler (Gossler Farms Nursery), and
Harold Greer (Greer Gardens).
The original brochure, printed in 1987, has been out of date
and unfunded by the Garden's budget for the past two years.
Matching funds of $500 are required and will be supplied by
the division. Design work will be done by staff within the
Public Works' Administration division.
The updated brochure will include photos, a map of the Garden,
and informative text on the plant displays along respective
memorial trails. This is the only publication devoted
entirely to promote the internationally -known Hendricks Park
Rhododendron Garden. Congratulations to Michael and us! -Mc
Page 1
