Friends of Hendricks Park Friends of Hendricks Park Mission: 13 December 2001 Gain recognition of Hendricks Park as a premier forested urban park in the Pacific Northwest by: providing stewardship for management of the Park, assisting with implementation of the Forest Management Plan, educating the public about this valuable natural resource, and generating a broad base of community support for the Park The Friends of Hendricks Park believe in preserving and enhancing community natural areas through: • public stewardship over important resources. • scientifically based decision making and respecting natural processes. • broad community support to influence government leaders and agencies. • volunteerism for the mutual benefit of learning while doing. • charitable contributions as an instrument for accomplishing positive community outcomes. Friends of Hendricks Park exists for the purpose of: • raising the visibility of Hendricks Park as an important local, state, and regional asset. • collaborating with the City of Eugene in design & planning processes for Hendricks Park and on implementation of the Hendricks Park Forest Management Plan. • working cooperatively with neighborhood associations and other interested groups to develop broad based community support for Hendricks Park. • advocating for both the City and the community to provide financial support and other resources for Hendricks Park. • promoting volunteerism for Park improvement and public education. • supporting interpretive, education, and research programs within the Park that provide information and training for Park staff and interpretive naturalists. • providing information, education, and training to the public about the park, its gardens, forests, plants, and ecosystems. • assisting with public education regarding restoration and preservation of natural areas.
