Friends of Hendricks Park <br /> Friends of Hendricks Park Mission: 13 December 2001 <br /> Gain recognition of Hendricks Park as a premier forested urban <br /> park in the Pacific Northwest by: <br /> providing stewardship for management of the Park, <br /> assisting with implementation of the Forest Management Plan, <br /> educating the public about this valuable natural resource, and <br /> generating a broad base of community support for the Park <br /> The Friends of Hendricks Park believe in preserving and enhancing community <br /> natural areas through: <br /> • public stewardship over important resources. <br /> • scientifically based decision making and respecting natural processes. <br /> • broad community support to influence government leaders and agencies. <br /> • volunteerism for the mutual benefit of learning while doing. <br /> • charitable contributions as an instrument for accomplishing positive community <br /> outcomes. <br /> Friends of Hendricks Park exists for the purpose of: <br /> • raising the visibility of Hendricks Park as an important local, state, and regional <br /> asset. <br /> • collaborating with the City of Eugene in design & planning processes for <br /> Hendricks Park and on implementation of the Hendricks Park Forest Management <br /> Plan. <br /> • working cooperatively with neighborhood associations and other interested groups <br /> to develop broad based community support for Hendricks Park. <br /> • advocating for both the City and the community to provide financial support and <br /> other resources for Hendricks Park. <br /> • promoting volunteerism for Park improvement and public education. <br /> • supporting interpretive, education, and research programs within the Park that <br /> provide information and training for Park staff and interpretive naturalists. <br /> • providing information, education, and training to the public about the park, its <br /> gardens, forests, plants, and ecosystems. <br /> • assisting with public education regarding restoration and preservation of natural <br /> areas. <br />
