I'm pleased <br /> to report that we have signed an administrative agreement that allows <br /> Gillespie Butte to be used for park purposes, while still recognizing EWEB's <br /> ownership of the property. <br /> Under the agreement, parks staff are assuming responsibility for maintaining <br /> the property, which will primarily involve mowing the area so that it's <br /> useable for walking, picnicing, etc. We have no immediate plans for park <br /> improvements and EWEB approval would be required before improvements could <br /> be made. <br /> Jean and I believe that, at some point in the future, we may be able to <br /> permanently transfer Gillespie Butte to the City through a land exchange. <br /> In the meantime, the administrative agreement shows that EWEB recognizes the <br /> public interest in preserving the butte for park purposes and increases the <br /> level of maintenance for the property.
